For many of us, some of our fondest memories revolve around the holidays we took as children.
The freedom to explore, the special little indulgences, the joy of staying up past our bedtimes… all of these were formative experiences that left lasting memories – and inspired the future travellers within us. A P&O Cruises holiday can give you that young-at-heart feeling, whatever your age. Here are four ways you can indulge your inner child on your next holiday with us.
On our family-friendly ships, you’ll find inventive activities themed around the classic Aardman characters Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. While some of the sessions are designed for our youngest guests, there’s something for all ages – try your hand at creating Gromit or Shaun the Sheep for yourself at one of our interactive clay station workshops; catch a premiere of Aardman’s latest films, or enjoy in-cabin entertainment. Everyone can take part in the fun, frolics and good ol’ British eccentricity of these charming Aardman characters while on board.
Or, why not unleash your inner adventurer? Exclusive to Arvia, Mission Control is a unique immersive experience set on board a fictional submarine. It combines an escape game with multimedia simulation and an intense live-action story to create a thrilling underwater challenge, where your crew will overcome danger and solve puzzles and problems.
A holiday is the perfect time to ditch your to-do list and instead do a bit of what you want, when you want. Melt your cares away with a Snowflake Gelato (and splurge on that second scoop). Bliss out for an afternoon in Oasis Spa and let our skilled therapists work their magic. Cosy up in the plush cinema and be wowed by a film on the big screen. Tuck into your childhood favourites for dinner – think pizza by the pool, a burger and chips from The Keel & Cow or fried chicken and macaroni cheese at The Beach House – and be sure to save room for dessert.
George Bernard Shaw was onto something when he said: 'We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.' Fortunately, there are plenty of opportunities for fun across the fleet. Arvia will be home to Altitude, where you can challenge your fellow guests to a round of island-themed mini golf or test your bravery on our first-ever high-ropes experience. Across the fleet you’ll find sports galore, from football to table tennis. And if it’s an indoors day, you can keep entertained with everything from pub quizzes to discos.
Please note, our new Skywalk outdoor adventure does cost a little extra.
One of the best things about being on holiday is not being beholden to a bedtime. Fortunately, on a P&O Cruises holiday, there’s plenty of fun to be had after the sun sets. In The Limelight Club, exceptional entertainment is guaranteed, served with showbiz glamour, stylish cocktails and a sumptuous dinner. You can keep it casual with cocktail pianists at Crow’s Nest or late-night dancing in The Live Lounge. For something a little more low-key, Azura and Arvia have an outdoor SeaScreen where you can see a film under the stars. And of course, many of our cruises offer late nights and overnights in port, leaving you free to explore your own way.
