A Rosewater spray to soothe the skin

Rosewater is a beauty product that is in popular demand. Refreshing when sprayed on the skin, it also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce redness and irritation whilst calming acne, dermatitis and eczema. To experience the many benefits of this beautifully scented flower, you don’t need to purchase a bottle at the store. Eirinn Sutherland, manager of operations for Oasis Spa, shares this DIY (do-it-yourself) at home recipe straight from the garden.

Ingredients

4 Roses

Distiller Water

4 Small Mister Bottles

How to make Rosewater

1. Delicately remove petals from stem.
2. Place petals in a large pot and add distilled water to cover them. Do not add too much water as this will dilute the solution.
3. Heat the stove on medium, bringing the water to a boil. Cover the pot and allow it to simmer for 20 minutes. The rose petals will become pale in color.

4. Separate petals from the water with a strainer and allow to cool.
5. Add one ounce of rose solution to three ounces of water.
6. Place in a spritzer bottle.
7. Store in a cool, dry place for up to a month.
