P&O Cruises has been partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust for the past seven years, and this year, thanks to your generosity, we achieved an incredible fundraising milestone of £700,000 for the charity.

That’s a success worth celebrating, so on Friday 28 April, we hosted a special event on board Britannia for young people affected by cancer. Young people and nurses from Teenage Cancer Trust’s specialist unit at Southampton General Hospital enjoyed a tour of our flagship and a lunch, and met with P&O Cruises Food Hero and renowned chef Marco Pierre White.

We cannot be more grateful

P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow was there to present the cheque for £700,000 to Teenage Cancer Trust’s director of engagement, Paul McKenzie. Paul Ludlow said: “We are so proud to partner with Teenage Cancer Trust and support the incredible work it does for every young person facing cancer. The generosity of our guests and crew on board and colleagues in Southampton has surpassed our expectations and we cannot be more grateful to them. We have raised this huge sum of money, had a lot of fun along the way and hope we can continue to do so.”

Paul McKenzie said: “We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with P&O Cruises, and everything we’ve achieved together over the past seven years. We’re grateful to all P&O Cruises colleagues and guests for their generosity, which has enabled us to be there for the seven young people who are told every day ‘you have cancer’. We are so glad to have P&O Cruises by our side as we look to the future and ask how we can do more to support young people.”

From raffles and fetes to Trek the Deck

The partnership between P&O Cruises and Teenage Cancer Trust has benefitted from a broad range of fundraising activities including on-board raffles and fetes; and some of our staff have even run the London Marathon!

Our flagship fundraising event is Trek the Deck, which launched in 2017. Guests give a £10 donation, don a branded T-shirt and embark on a 5km walk round the deck, cheered on by the captain, crew and fellow guests.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our guests and colleagues for their continued support of our partnership.
