Your holiday wardrobe

We all have our own styles and tastes when it comes to clothes. To make sure your holiday wardrobe is ready for any occasion, take a look at our handy dress code guide so you know what dress codes to expect throughout your time away.

What to wear in the evening

Evening Casual

Think relaxed and comfortable, but chic. Show us your style with a colourful dress, tailored trousers, dark denim or your favourite ‘going out’ shirt, paired with smart shoes or sandals. Tonight’s not the night for tracksuits, football shirts or trainers.

Black Tie

Black Tie evenings give you an excuse to wear something extra-special that you don’t often get a chance to. Join in the fun of dressing to impress with your best cocktail dress, trouser suit, tuxedo, ball gown or suit. If you go for a shirt, please be sure to finish it off with a smart jacket and tie. We love to see formal national dress and military uniforms too!

Already know which ship you will be sailing on?

What to wear during the day

What to wear on board

Holidays are for relaxing! So, t-shirts, shorts, linen and sundresses are ideal for warmer days, but don’t forget to pack some layers for cooler destinations and evenings on deck when the sun goes down. Comfy shoes are perfect for strolling the decks when you’re admiring the dreamy sea views

It’s fine to go barefoot and wear swimmers by the pool (of course!), but please cover up and wear shoes or sandals in the ship’s lounges, indoor bars, restaurants and reception.

Heading ashore

While there’s no dress code ashore, we have a few suggestions…

Without a doubt, the most essential item of holiday clothing is flat walking shoes. There’s so much to explore in every destination and you don’t want to get blisters. If you think you might visit air-conditioned museums and galleries etc., you’ll need some layers. Also, please be mindful that some cultures might require you to cover up in public and/or religious spaces.

Going on an exciting shore experience? Don’t spoil that bucket-list moment by wearing something you’ll be uncomfortable in! Be sure to dress for the terrain, activity and climate (which can be changeable in places like the Norwegian fjords)

Travelling as a family?

For those travelling on family-friendly ships, our dress codes do not apply to children aged 17 and under. However, they can still dress to impress if they want to!
