Medical requirements

If you have any medical requirements, please see the information about pre-existing health conditions, travel insurance, accessibility and COVID-19 below.

Pre-existing medical requirements

If you have any pre-existing medical requirements, we advise that you discuss your travel plans with your doctor.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept guests who require oxygen via tank or cylinder or those who require heamodialysis. If you are travelling with CPAP, an oxygen concentrator, mechanical ventilatory support or peritoneal dialysis, you should confirm your fitness to travel on your chosen itinerary with your primary health care provider. You must also have full travel insurance that covers you for all pre-existing health conditions. If you have any queries or require any additional support, please contact our medical team via email medical@carnivalukgroup.com

Pregnancy

Pregnant guests can travel with us, however, we cannot accept guests who will be more than 23 weeks pregnant (i.e. 23 weeks + 1 day or more) at any time during the cruise.

Please advise us that you are expecting a baby. You'll be required to send confirmation of your expected due date (EDD), certified by your doctor or midwife, confirming you are fit to travel.  We will then determine whether you are able to travel on your planned cruise; if you will be in the 24th week of your pregnancy at any point during the cruise you will be assisted to make an alternate holiday arrangement. Please be aware that if you are found to be in the 24th week of your pregnancy or later at embarkation, you will not be permitted to board and it will not be possible to support alternate holiday arrangements.

Please send your letter to medical@carnivalukgroup.com

Travel insurance

It's mandatory for all UK guests to have comprehensive cruise-specific travel insurance when you sail with us. Whilst we hope you never have to claim, the policy will ensure you're able to relax and enjoy your holiday knowing you're protected should you need it. When travelling with us, your insurance must include medical and repatriation cover of £2 million minimum and cover for emergency evacuations. You must also make sure your policy includes full cover for any and all pre‑existing medical conditions worldwide, or as a minimum, in the countries you are due to visit.

Accessiblity

Guests who have any additional needs that may present a health or safety risk to themselves or others must let us know of the needs at the time of booking and complete the ‘On-board needs’ questionnaire available on Accessibility on our cruises after booking.

Contact us

If you think any of the above applies to you, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 0344 338 8003 (local call charges apply). If you booked your cruise as part of a wider holiday package, please contact your travel provider for information relating to their policies.

COVID-19

There are currently no COVID-19 vaccination or pre-cruise testing requirements for any P&O Cruises sailings.

On-board medical centres

In the unlikely event that you or your travelling companions require emergency medical assistance, all our ships have well equipped medical centres on board, supported by qualified doctors. Please note that these facilities are not NHS and private medical costs apply. For information on travel insurance please click here.
