Britannia sails the high seas in style, combining the excitement of cruising with the sophistication of a five-star hotel.
When she launched in 2015, Britannia certainly made a splash. She was the largest ship ever built for the British market, with cutting-edge entertainment venues, Britain’s first cookery school at sea and a dazzling atrium. Nearly five years on, she’s as fabulous as ever – and with a refit on the horizon, she’s ready to sail through her next chapter in style.
Britannia takes you to some of the world’s most incredible destinations, soaking up the sun from Barcelona to Barbados and exploring European gems such as Bruges (from Zeebrugge) and Rotterdam.
Sail with her through the Strait of Gibraltar into its sheltered waters and turn on all your senses. Inhale the heady scents of figs, cypress groves, fresh fish and ripe tomatoes. Taste the icy rosé, the salty feta, the inky purple-black olives, the pizza! It’s impossible to sum up a fraction of what the Med has to offer, but highlights are the giddy architecture and fabulous food markets of Barcelona, the glitz and glamour of Cannes, the awesome art treasures of Florence and the ice cream and icons of the Eternal City, Rome. Britannia visits lesser known delights, too – Cartagena in Spain and its dazzling Roman remains sitting cheek by jowl with the modern city; gorgeous, Moorish-influenced Palma on Mallorca; and Corsica’s capital Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon (and don’t they let you know it). Escape from the endless trinkets into the majestic maquis, the island’s scented, thickly wooded interior.
Fly out to join her to get your dose of sunshine – you could even spend Christmas or New Year here, with all the cooking and washing up taken care of. Cruising is the perfect way to see the Caribbean as you can island-hop to explore its amazing cultural and geographical diversity, from the salt flats and flamingos of Curaçao with Dutch gables, Spanish villas, French forts and British plantation houses. Experience in Barbados. Haggle with spice vendors in Grenada, or stroll around the markets and cafés of half French, half Dutch St Martin, or is it Sint Maarten? Alternatively, find yourself the nearest perfect beach (there are so many to choose from) and read a book, sip a rum punch and take it easy. Everything you could want for a truly restorative break is there for the taking.
Britannia is a 5-star hotel at sea, offering an abundance of choice and luxurious décor. Launched in 2015 and named by Her Majesty The Queen, she’s inspired by our past and designed for the future.
After nearly five years sailing the high seas, Britannia will enjoy a refit this autumn. For her next chapter, we’re maximising your favourite areas to bring the ship’s personality to the fore and making her bars and shops better than ever.
Britannia’s atrium is the place to meet, mingle, and plan your next move, all beneath the stunning starburst chandelier. The refit will bring a new vibe to this dramatic space: look out for eye-catching colour schemes and a fresh design direction.
There’s something for everyone, from the sports courts to The Cookery Club to Headliners Theatre. Younger ones will have a blast in the children’s clubs, and there’s even a teens-only deck to give older children their own space.
The Limelight Club offers entertainment worthy of the world stage while you dine. Britannia brings the good times nightly with plenty of other venues to choose from, including The Live Lounge, Headliners Theatre, The Studio and the Crystal Room.
Food lovers flock to Britannia. You can dine in style at a different venue each day of the week: try The Glass House, The Epicurean, Sindhu, The Market Café and The Beach House, plus the main restaurants, buffets, poolside snacks and more.
The Cookery Club is a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on and be guided by our talented team of chefs. You could even learn from the godfather of British cooking himself, Marco Pierre White, when he travels on board.
The Oasis Spa and Salon is the height of luxury. For next-level bliss, take time out at The Retreat, an open-deck area exclusively for adults. Post-refit, there will be two ‘express spa’ pods and therapeutic innovations in the thermal and hydropool suite.
There’s no better way to cap off a fabulous day than to catch up with family and friends over a drink at Brodie’s pub, the Blue Bar, The Crow’s Nest, The Glass House or one of four deck bars. Post-refit, Java café will also serve alcoholic drinks.
