Now known as the clubbing capital of the Med due to its legendary nightlife, the Balearic island of Ibiza has much more than simply that to offer. You are sure to enjoy exploring the Old Quarter of its charming capital, Ibiza Town, with its 16th century citadel and fortifications rising steeply from the harbour and the Gothic Catalan cathedral, which doubles as a museum, while contemporary art is on display at the Museu d'Art Contemporani. There are more stylish designs on display in the chic fashion boutiques in the lower town where you will also find numerous restaurants, cafs and bars. If you just want to flop, head for the nearby family-friendly beaches at La Salinas and Es Cavellet on the Spanish island. Another option is to hop on the ferry for the hour's journey to the unspoilt sandy beaches on the neighbouring island of Formentera.
