Join a guided hike to stretch your legs and ‘earn’ the spellbinding views across Ålesund and its surrounding area of incredible natural beauty.
Beginning on a gentle gravel path, you’ll walk up to the Aksla Ridge and soak up the vistas of the island-dotted fjords extending into the distant Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the Borgundfjord with its backdrop of snow-capped mountains to the southeast.
Breathe in the clean mountain air and the fragrance of the abundant pine trees as the path becomes a little more strenuous. Pass by the ‘dams’ where townsfolk used to source drinking water and from the Fjellstua viewpoint, marvel at the spectacular views of Ålesund and its stunning setting. Descend the 418 steps and take a close look at the unique Art Nouveau style in which the town was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904.
