Marvel at the beautiful scenery on two of the region’s most scenic islands and visit the Aksla viewpoint overlooking Ålesund.
Relax and be wowed by fascinating tales of the ‘saga islands’ as you drive across the bridge to rural Giske, birthplace of the legendary Viking chieftain Rollo and the centre of power in the Middle Ages. Stop to photograph the white marble exterior of the pretty Giske Church, which dates back to 1150.
On neighbouring Godøy island, admire the quaint fishing village of Alnes and, on a clear day, soak up the views of the scattered islets in the Atlantic Ocean. Finally, head back to Ålesund and drive up to the Aksla viewpoint for fantastic vistas across the colourful town, the glassy Borgundfjord and the snow-capped mountains in the distance.
