Camp Aurora
Alta, Norway
moderate
3:30 Hours
Camp Aurora, which lies just outside Alta, is in an optimum viewing location with no light disturbance. In fact, it’s only three kilometres from the world's first Northern Lights Observatory, which was built in 1899. The area around Alta is excellent for seeing the lights, due to the strong temperature variations between the warm Gulf Stream and cold Siberian air. This creates atmospheric violence, which results in the fantastic light show. The camp’s spacious interior and exterior make a great venue to relax, enjoy a hot drink and watch Northern Lights movies, while you wait for the main event.
