Enjoy a visit to the Australia Butterfly Sanctuary, which is home to over 1,500 magnificent tropical butterflies. All the butterflies are local rainforest species, including an iconic Kuranda Butterfly, the electric blue Ulysses Butterfly, and the majestic fluoro green and yellow Cairns Birdwing. The colourful butterflies are reared on site and released into the aviary, which is designed to replicate their natural habitat, complete with a running stream.
Kuranda Village is a haven for markets, cafés, restaurants and art and crafts stores.Peruse the shops and perhaps buy some local handicrafts or items such as opals or aboriginal souvenirs including didgeridoos.
The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway takes you on an amazing experience over Australia’s World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforest canopy and deep into the rainforest.
