Climb aboard a 4x4 and relax as you head north for a stunning photo stop at the island’s famous dunes, where white and golden sands are backdropped by the turquoise Atlantic Ocean. Driving on to Corralejo, you’ll go off-road to get a close look at the enormous crater of the 900-foot-high Volcan Bayuyo before you traverse the stark and spectacular ‘volcano route’ to the surfer’s paradise, El Cotillo.
Rumble along the rugged coastline and stop to admire the panorama from El Toston, an 18th-century lookout for spotting pirates. Somehow, the mountainous landscape of Vallebrón is arid and lush at the same time. Visit the tiny village here and find out how farming thrives.
