Leaving the pier, you’ll take a short drive to the Mediterranean Steps where you’ll meet your specialist guide who will guide you along the snaking inclines of the Upper Rock Nature Reserve. These steps were originally built as part of a military communication system, which would run between defense points. During your climb your guide will point of significant World War II bunkers, gun batteries and prehistoric caves. Have your camera handy as you may encounter playful Barbary apes along the way.
Eventually, you’ll reach the 1398-foot summit; from here you’ll have a superb view point over the Straits of Gibraltar.
After you’ve taken your photos, you’ll descend the steps to the cable car station for a leisurely cable car ride to the base station where you’ll receive a “certificate of completion,” as a special memento to take home and show off your amazing achievement.
Then, you’ll re-join your minibus for relaxing ride back to the ship.
