Hidden Hong Kong

The Chi Lin Nunnery is a large temple complex of elegant wooden architecture, treasured Buddhist relics and soul-soothing lotus ponds. The complex was established in 1934 and renovated in the Tang dynasty style in 1990. During your visit, you’ll see a series of temple halls, some of which contain gold, clay and wooden statues.

Next door to the Chi Lin Nunnery is the Nan Lian Garden, nestled amongst a myriad of high-rise apartments. Its scenic garden is meticulously landscaped and provides a moment of tranquility away from the hectic pace of Hong Kong.

The Kowloon Walled City Park of Hong Kong was designed into a south Yangtze River garden in the features of early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) with well maintained distinctive flavours and architectures of the old Walled City. During the reconstruction, some ancient objects and relics were discovered, which are now well protected and exhibited to the masses.
Hong Kong’s Museum of History is one of the most interesting museums in Hong Kong. Established in 1975, it occupies a state-of-the-art building with an area of 17,500 square metres. You’ll have the chance to see early newspapers, a complete set of Hong Kong currencies, documents and a huge collection of historical photos, including village furniture, fishing ships and other fishing equipment, traditional clothes, customs and beliefs.
