Anglesey's Beautiful Coastline
Port
Holyhead, United Kingdom
Activity Level
low
Duration
3:30 Hours
Sit back and relax on a leisurely circumnavigation around the stunning coastline of Anglesey, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Sit back and soak up the beautiful scenes of Anglesey, as you ride along the coastline of this remarkable island. You’ll also get a taste of its rich, cultural history, which was fashioned over the last two millennia.
Once a druid stronghold and Roman copper-mining hub, Anglesey has been invaded by the Irish, Scottish, and Vikings. But it wasn’t until the 13th century that it was finally conquered by England. Nonetheless, Welsh remains widely spoken on the island, alongside English.
Your panoramic ride will follow quiet country roads, past pastures and meadows, and along Anglesey’s hundred-mile coastline. You’ll travel on the low-lying southwest road, and through the village of Aberffraw.
As you approach the Menai Strait, which separates Anglesey from the mainland, you’ll get glimpses of Snowdonia’s peaks and the Victorian Menai bridges. After a comfort stop in Beaumaris, with its majestic castle and pretty harbour, you’ll travel through the lush wooded farmland of the north, Bull Bay, and the northern coastal route.
