“All aboard” the old Ffestiniog slate train, for a fascinating narrow-gauge steam-train journey through the Blaenau Ffestiniog mountains.

Leaving the port, you’ll ride through the gorgeous scenery and farmlands of Anglesey and across the Menai Strait, to the mainland and Snowdonia National Park. You’ll pass through the picture-postcard village of Beddgelert, deep in the Colwyn Valley, before arriving in Porthmadog.

Once a flourishing slate port, little Porthmadog is the end of the line for the narrow-gauge Ffestiniog Railway, which was completed in 1836. Here you’ll board the miniature steam train and chug along the original 13.5-mile route, through the unique spiral, to the slate-mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Back on your coach, you’ll ride through the Vale of Ffestiniog and Crimea Pass, with its steep, wooded hillsides and granite outcroppings. You’ll make photo stops at the enchanting ruins of Dolwyddelan Castle, then at the foot of Mount Snowdon itself, after passing through Betws-y-Coed.

A three-course lunch is included in your journey.
