Textiles have always been an important part of life in Indonesia, and constitute a rich aspect of Indonesian culture. Although the use of traditional textiles has declined in recent years, this artistic skill is still alive and thriving.
At the Rumah Batik Palbatu, you’ll join an inspiring one-hour batik-making workshop. You’ll learn the traditional methods of canting and simmering wax, then create your very own batik piece, which you can take home with you.
After lunch in a local restaurant, you’ll visit the Sarinah Shopping Mall and have plenty of free time to browse for fashions, cosmetics, perfumes, souvenirs, handicrafts and textiles; including local batiks and the traditional woven cloth known as ikat.
