Explore the maritime city of Kiel on foot and uncover the charms of this captivating state capital of Schleswig-Holstein.

Your guided walk will begin at the cruise terminal, as the city centre is just a stone’s throw away. There you’ll find the perfect location for an interesting stroll that will show you the historic roots of the city, as well as its modern developments.

Kiel was heavily bombed during WW2, as it was Germany's main naval base and submarine production facility. Although that resulted in the destruction of many historical buildings, today you’ll find an interesting assortment of old and new architecture.

Your walk will take you past many of Kiel’s main sights including the Opera House, the Maritime Museum and its historical ships, and the Town Hall with its impressive 106-metre-high tower that is reminiscent of St Mark’s Campanile in Venice. You’ll see where Kiel was founded, the city’s oldest building – St Nicholas Church, and a selection of new city developments.

During your guided walk your informative guide will tell you all about life in the historical and present-day city.
