Marvel at the lunar landscape as you drive into Timanfaya National Park, AKA Fire Mountain, where volcanoes rise from the stark, blackened earth. Soak up the scenery and watch in awe as your guide performs geothermal ‘experiments’ to demonstrate the powerful forces beneath your feet, then hop on a camel for a fun 30-minute ride over the volcanic dunes.
You might be surprised to find that vineyards dot this area, with vines protected by semi-circular stone walls. Call in at a bodega in the La Geria region to try the wine made here and perhaps buy a bottle to take home.
