A scenic drive takes you to the small village of Calzada. From here you’ll walk part of the ‘Way of St James’. This pilgrimage route has been made by pilgrims of all faiths and backgrounds for more than a thousand years and was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during medieval times.

Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through meadows and plantations, following the scallop shell symbols and yellow painted arrows which guide the pilgrims along the way. During your walk be sure to greet your fellow pilgrims with ‘Buen Camino’ (good way), as they pass you along the way, eager to reach the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where it is believed the remains of the apostle St James are buried.

After walking part of the route, you’ll re-board your coach and drive the rest of the way to Santiago. Upon arrival at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, you can imagine the emotion experienced by pilgrims having completed such an important journey. You’ll then have around 2 hours to explore the city independently, during which you can visit the magnificent Cathedral and perhaps purchase a spot of lunch.

Afterwards, rejoin your coach for the journey back to the ship.
