Climb onto your trusty steed and follow your guide into the lush Hjelmelandsdalen valley and up into the surrounding stunning mountains. Sitting on your mount for around 1 – 1½ hours gives you plenty of time to get to know your horse, which is one of the world’s oldest pure-bred horses, and appreciate the incredible landscapes. The Vikings rode them into battle, the Norwegian armed forces used them in times of war and now it’s your turn to ride Norway’s national breed. Experience riding is necessary, even with your well-trained horse and the breed’s good-natured temperament.
