Duration
5:00 Hours
Enjoy pretty fishing villages, a delicious lobster lunch, views of Lake Kleifarvatn and geothermal landscapes.
Venture south through unspoilt landscapes and look out for Hekla, the country's largest volcano, off in the distance. Get acquainted with local life in Eyrarbakki with its traditional houses painted in bright colours. See the tiny fishing community of Stokkseyri, famous for its black sand beach. Savour the atmosphere of a local restaurant as you sit down to a scrumptious feast of freshly caught Icelandic lobster (langoustine) and delicious side dishes. Travel west and drink in the glorious waterscapes of Lake Kleifarvatn – loved by photographers and home to a mythological monster. Near the lake's southern end lies Krýysuvíik, a geothermal area. Admire the colourful rocks and watch powerful jets of steam escaping from beneath the earth's crust.
