Skagen Walking Tour
Skagen, Denmark
high
3:00 Hours
A short transfer will take you past the inner marina, lined with charminig red painted houses, to your starting point.
Setting off on foot, your guide will lead you past the White Lighthouse for a photo stop at the Vippefyr, a traditional tipping lantern that was a popular type of navigational aid used in Denmark during the 17th century and even earlier. From here you can enjoy views of the white sandy beach, Soendre Strand.
Continue past typical yellow painted Skagen houses, surrounded by small white fences and beautifully kept gardens. Along the way, you will also pass the historical Brøndums Hotel, dating back to 1840.
Visit the Skagen Museum of Art, which houses a large collection of paintings created by the famous Skagen painters.
Your walking tour will then take you past the former residence of the painters Anna & Michael Ancher, 2 of the prominent Skagen painters. Follow your guide along the Skagen shopping street and take a closer look at some of the galleries.
The shopping street leads to the Skagen Church dating back to 1841. This church replaced the former church, St Laurence’s, which can be seen just south of Skagen and is now known as the Buried Church. (The Buried Church will not be visited on this tour).
Your tour will end close to the marina, where you may choose to explore Skagen further or return directly to the ship via the shuttle bus.
