Explore the dramatic subterranean beauty of the Castellana Caves and soak up spectacular Adriatic views from Polignano a Mare.
Enjoy the beauty of the classical Italian countryside, as you make you way to the Caves of Castellana for a fantastic subterranean journey.
As you delve to a depth of 122 metres below the surface, you’ll marvel at the spectacular underground chambers. The walls are covered in colourful alabaster stalagmites and stalactites, encrusted with calcite crystals. The vast complex includes the enormous 60-metre-tall vertical tunnel of La Grave, the imposing alabaster wall of the White Cave, and so much more.
Back on the surface, it’s just a short ride to Polignano a Mare, a quaint town perched high up on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic. Dating back to the 4th century BC there is plenty to see on your guided walk through the village. Highlights include the Via Traiana, built by Emperor Trajan in 110 AD.
You’ll also have some free time to explore independently, and wander under the flowering arches and enjoy the stunning panoramas of the sea.
