Delve into the heart of the Primitivo wine region and sample some of the area’s delicious, award-winning varieties.
Sit back and soak up the stunning Italian countryside, as you make your way to Manduria, the capital of Primitivo wine.
You’ll receive a warm welcome at the Produttori di Manduria winery, as you enter the majestic Cantina, which is set in 19th-century 'star' vaults below the winery’s oldest wing. Then your journey into their age-old traditions will begin, in their informative museum, which brings the history of their ancient vine to life.
The name Primitivo means ‘early one’ in Italian, referring to the grape’s tendency to ripen relatively early on in the growing season. Originally from Croatia, the same grape is also known as Zinfandel in California.
Within those ancient vaults, you’ll also enjoy a tasting of four delicious wines, with an experienced Sommelier. Your tasting will also be accompanied by a selection of local traditional snacks, including taralli, cheese, salami and almond cookies.
