Your tour will commence from the pier and accompanied by your guide, you will walk to the heart of Trieste, where you’ll discover its historical centre. You’ll see the Greek Orthodox Church of San Nicolò, the Galleria del Tergesteo, Piazza Borsa and the former Jewish Ghetto. (Exterior views)
Walking through the most historical streets of Trieste, you will reach the Teatro Verdi, the Café Tommaseo and the famous Roman Theatre. Built between the 1st and 2nd Centuries, it used to hold 6,000 spectators.
Continuing your walk, you will reach the largest square in Europe facing the sea: Piazza Unità d’Italia, flanked by the building of the City Hall, government offices and the Lloyd Triestino Building.
After this glimpse into Trieste’s cultural past and present, you may return to the ship together with the group or enjoy some free time to shop and explore this beautiful city further.
