Delve into a natural wonderland on a rewarding hike.
Pull on your walking boots and head off into the serene Montgó Natural Park, a protected area that rises to 2,500 feet above sea level and shelters more than 600 species of plant and 150 types of animal.
Your local naturalist guide will point out endangered varieties of vegetation as you walk through shaded areas and push on up towards the Cova de L’Aigua, a fascinating cave that was used as a place of worship as far back as the 4th century. By torchlight, peer inside the entrance to the cave to see the three compartments that formed a water reservoir through the ages, and admire the Roman inscription dated AD 238.
During your hike, you might encounter birds of prey such as the partridge eagle or royal owl, as well as reptiles, amphibians and mammals. You’ll also pause for refreshments, and what better place to take a break than in this peaceful natural environment?
